Baby Gift List sounds great! But how does it work?

You can start building your very own gift list straight away. When you find an item you would like, simply copy the web address (URL) and paste it into our clever gift grabber so it can be added to your list. You are able to do this with as many items as you like.

Once you have made your dream gift list you can start sharing with your friends and family.

Friends and family can then go straight to your list and browse the items you have added. If someone decides to purchase an item, they will be directed to the retailer where they can complete the purchase.

Finally, your friends and family will return to Baby Gift List to confirm their purchase. The purchased gift is then removed from the list, to ensure that you don't receive any duplicates.

Are there any hidden costs?

Completely Free to Use:

Creating and managing your gift list with Baby Gift List is entirely free. There are no hidden fees for either you or your loved ones.

Transparency in Our Earnings:

To maintain a free service, we earn a small commission on some purchases made through our website links to specific retailers. This commission is paid directly by the retailer as a way of thanking us for connecting them with potential customers. This does not affect the price your friends and family pay for the items they choose.

These commissions help us continuously improve the platform and ensure a smooth gifting experience for everyone.

Can I add ask for contributions towards the more expensive items?

Absolutely! You can add a custom fund to your registry and allow your friends and family to contribute towards that more expensive item or any other special goal. View our guide on adding a cash fund to your gift list.

Can multiple people contribute towards a gift?

This is where a cash fund on your registry comes in handy. Loved ones can contribute any amount they wish to your cash fund. You can then use the collected funds to purchase a specific item on your registry or anything you need for your baby. Find out how to create a custom fund here

Someone purchased a gift card for us, how do we redeem it?

If the friend that purchased the gift card does not send it to you, you will need to contact them directly. Check the Thank You Manager to see who has purchased the gift card.

Please note... Baby Gift List serves as a platform for creating and managing gift lists, and we don't have access to the physical gift cards or their redemption details.

How do you avoid duplicate gifts on a Baby Gift List?

At Baby Gift List, we know you want to avoid duplicate gifts, and so do we! Here's how our system helps:

  1. Automatic Updates: Once a contributor marks their chosen item as purchased, it's automatically removed from your active list. This minimises the chance of someone else selecting the same gift.
  2. Easy Marking: We make it incredibly easy for contributors to mark their purchases as complete. After selecting a gift, they'll be prompted to confirm their purchase on Baby Gift List. This simple step helps ensure everyone gets a unique and useful gift for your little one.

What if a duplicate happens?

While our system minimises duplicates, it's not foolproof. In the rare case of a duplicate, we recommend reaching out to you loved ones directly. Perhaps they'd be happy to exchange the item for something else you need, or you can work out a way that best suits everyone involved.

What is a list manager?

Our website has been designed to be very user-friendly, but we recommend that you add one of your details down as "List Manager" so you can assist anyone who is having difficulty purchasing a gift.

Can we turn off gift purchase emails to keep it a surprise?

Absolutely! You can keep it a surprise! Head to the notications page and toggle your email notifications to "NO".

What is the "Thank you manager"?

You can use the "thank you manager" to keep track of who you have sent your thank-you cards to. See what gift(s) each person has bought you and read any messages they have left.

Take note of their address and click the checkbox when you have sent your thank you.

How do we change the order of our gifts?

Look for this icon on your gifts - () you can click and drag this to move your gifts to any position.

You will not be able to do this on your mobile or tablet.

How do we receive our gifts?

You can ask your friends and family to either bring your gifts to your baby shower or have them delivered to an address.

If you have any problems regarding the delivery of a specific gift, you will need to contact the person that purchased the gift (find out who marked the gift as purchased in the "Thank you manager"). They would need to contact the original retailer directly. We'd love to help but the transaction is between those two parties exclusively, so we are unable to intervene.

Some gifts have not arrived, what should I do?

We understand the concern if some gifts haven't arrived yet. Here's how you can navigate this situation:

Check the Thank You Manager: This feature within Baby Gift List allows you to see who marked the gift as purchased.

Contact the friend: While Baby Gift List doesn't directly handle purchases, we recommend politely reaching out to the friend who marked the gift. They might have additional information or insights.

The friend should be able to share the estimated delivery timeframe or any tracking information they received.

As facilitators Baby Gift List provides a platform for creating and managing gift lists, connecting you with your loved ones.

We emphasise that the purchase agreement solely lies between the person and the retailer. Baby Gift List is not involved in the financial transaction or directly responsible for individual gift deliveries.

Why is data sometimes missing when I add a gift?

We do our best to grab all the information required, but sometimes we can't get everything. So if the title or price is empty you can fill it in. If the image of the product is missing you can upload it.

We continuously strive to improve our technology to capture as much information as possible when you add gifts.

How does Baby Gift List work for friends and family?

Baby Gift List makes it easy for your friends and family to find and purchase gifts you've chosen:

  1. Browsing Your Gift List: They can search for your gift list and explore the items you've selected.
  2. Selecting and Purchasing Gifts: Once they find a gift they like, they'll be directed to the retailer's website to securely complete their purchase.
  3. After they purchase: After completing their purchase on the retailer's website, the friend or family member will need to return to your gift list and mark the gift as "Purchased". We make this very clear to your loved ones so don't worry.

Your loved ones pay the exact price listed on the retailer's website – there are no hidden fees or markups from us.

Friends and family can also choose your preferred delivery method by having the gift shipped directly to your address or bringing the gift along to celebrate with you on your baby shower.

Where do we see the gifts that have been purchased?

Baby Gift List makes it simple to keep track of your gifts:

  1. View Purchased Gifts: In your member area, click on "View List". This displays a clear overview of all the gifts on your list, highlighting which ones have been marked as "Purchased".
  2. See Who Purchased Each Gift: If you'd like to see who purchased a specific gift, head over to the "Thank You Manager". Here, you can click on each name to view the gift they chose for you.

Can we delete our account?

We would hate to see you go! But yes, you can delete your account at any time.

Before you decide:

Baby Gift List offers the option to hide your list from friends and family using the switch in the members' area. This allows you to keep your list accessible but prevents others from viewing it.

Deleting Your Account:

  1. Log in: Access your Baby Gift List account.
  2. Got to Settings Locate the "Settings" section within your account dashboard.
  3. Scroll Down: Navigate to the bottom of the settings page.
  4. Delete Account: You'll find a clear link labeled "Delete Account." Click on this link to initiate the account deletion process.

It's important to note... Deleting your account is permanent. All associated data, including your gift list and friends and family information, will be removed.

Will my Baby Gift List expire?

Your Baby Gift List will not expire, but you can choose to delete it and close it permanently. This will, of course, mean that you and your loved ones cannot access it at all.

Alternatively you can hide your gift list from your friends and family by simply toggling the "list open" / "list closed" in the members area.

How do I make a Baby Gift List in the UK?

To make a Baby Gift List in the UK you simply need to sign up to your baby registry and start building your list.

There are a number of different UK options for your baby gift list, often referred to as a baby registry. We think we're the best baby registry around because we're free, we're experienced and we're really easy to use.

Is a gift registry the same as a baby registry?

A baby registry is a type of gift registry, or gift list. You can find gift registries that are set up for many different reasons.

There are a few names you'll find, such as "baby wish list" or "baby registry" alongside "baby gift list.". They all provide you with the same service, which is a customisable list of gifts you'd like to receive to prepare for your little one. In the case of Baby Gift List, it's totally free and we don't add anything extra onto the prices of the gifts.

Is there a difference between a baby gift list and a baby registry?

No, there's no real difference between a baby gift list and a baby registry. They both refer to the same thing: a personalized list of gifts you'd like for your new arrival. Some websites might use one term over the other, but they essentially offer the same service.

Is Baby Gift List a UK gift registry?

Yes, Baby Gift List is a free-to-use UK-based gift registry service. It is specifically designed for baby gifts and baby registries, so you wouldn't use Baby Gift List for a wedding gift registry (you can however use our sister site Marriage Gift list for that).

How does it work when you use a UK baby registry?

Baby gift lists work similarly to wedding registries. Expecting parents create a list of desired items for their baby, and then share the list with friends and family.

Many stores and online platforms offer baby gift registry services. These registries allow you to add various baby essentials, from cribs and prams to clothes and baby care products, all in one place.

Once your registry is set up, you can share the link with loved ones. They can then browse the list and choose a gift to purchase for the new arrival.

How easy is it to use a baby registry website?

Baby gift registry websites are very easy to use. You simply start a list, find items you like, and then add them to your list. New parents can add a variety of baby essentials, from cribs and prams to clothes and baby care products.

Which stores are available when I use Baby Gift List?

There is no limit, so you can add a gift from any online store.

Baby Gift List doesn't restrict you when you make your list, and that's what makes us different from many other UK baby registry services. They may focus entirely on ones that pay high commission, whereas we want you to add whatever you like!

How do I buy a gift?

You'll browse the gift list here, but you'll be purchasing directly from the retailers' websites.

  1. Find the gift you want to buy on the list.
  2. Click the gift and carefully read any instructions or delivery requirements.
  3. Click "Visit Retailer & Purchase Gift" to be directed to the retailer's website.
  4. Add the gift to your basket and proceed to checkout on the retailer's website.
  5. Make sure to use the delivery information provided and complete your purchase on the retailer's website.

Here's the important part… Once you've purchased the gift on the retailer's website, return to the gift list. A confirmation box will appear where you can mark the gift as purchased by completing the form.

I have already purchased the gift, how do I mark it as purchased?

Didn't see the purchase confirmation popup? No worries! You can still mark your gift as purchased.

  1. Find the gift you bought on the list and click on it again
  2. Below the 'Visit retailer & purchase gift' button, you'll see a link for 'Mark as purchased.'
  3. Complete the short form to confirm your purchase.

Why was I taken to another website when trying to give a gift?

Baby Gift List is designed to help parents easily create their dream gift registry. We provide a platform where they can add gifts from various online stores.

When you choose a gift, you'll be directed to the retailer's website to complete your purchase. We don't sell the products ourselves.

In some cases, we use an affiliate link to send you to the retailer. This simply means that the retailer might thank us with a small commission if you make a purchase using that link.

For cash gifts, you will be redirected to the parents PayPal.Me account. We don't handle any financial transactions directly and there is no fee from us.

Where do I send the gift?

The shipping address will appear at the top of their gift list and in the pop-up of your chosen gift. Simply copy and paste the address when you go through the checkout process on the retailer site.

If you plan to give your gift in person, then ship the gift to your own address instead.

I purchased a gift but it has not arrived, can you help?

We understand your concern! While Baby Gift List connects you to retailers, we don't handle the purchase or delivery of the gifts themselves.

Important to note: Your purchase agreement is directly with the retailer you buy the gift from. We are unable to intervene in disputes regarding the delivery or quality of the gifts.

If you haven't received your gift yet, we recommend contacting the retailer directly. They will be able to assist you with tracking your purchase and answer any questions you may have.

I marked a gift as fulfilled by mistake. How do I undo this?

No worries! We understand mistakes can happen. Here's how to easily fix it:

  1. Look for an email from Baby Gift List titled "Your Thoughtful Gift for [Baby Surname]" (check your spam folder if needed).
  2. Scroll down to the section titled "Changed your mind?" and click the provided link.
  3. You'll see the gift that you marked. Click "Undo your gift selection" to make it reappear on their gift list.

Didn't receive the email? Don't worry! Simply contact us at hello@babygiftlist.com. In your message, please mention baby's surname and the name of the gift you want to unmark.

Can I contribute towards a gift?

Absolutely! We understand that you might prefer to contribute towards a specific need or simply want more flexibility in your gift-giving. Here's how you can do that:

Many registries, including those created on Baby Gift List, offer a "Cash Fund" option. This allows you to contribute any amount you wish directly to the parents-to-be. They can then use the collected funds to purchase essential baby items, bigger purchases on the registry, or anything they need for their little one.

How to find the Cash Fund:

  1. Look for an item labelled 'Cash Fund' on the registry (this is optional for parents-to-be, so they may not have one).
  2. Select the Cash Fund and follow the instructions provided.
  3. You will either be redirected to their PayPal.Me account or if they prefer you can also give cash in person

How do I buy multiple items from the same retailer?

To keep it simple you would want to add all of your items to the same shopping cart, so you can go through the checkout process once (which may save on shipping costs).

Here are the steps to take:

  1. Find your gifts: Browse the gift list and choose the items you want from the same store.
  2. Proceed to retailer: Click on the first item and proceed to the retailer's website. Add it to your shopping cart but don't check out just yet.
  3. Mark as purchased: Return to Baby Gift List and confirm your purchase by clicking "Yes, I have paid." Fill out the form and let the parents know.
  4. Repeat for other items: Select the next gift from the same store on the gift list. Go back to the retailer's website and add it to your cart. You'll likely see your previous item there too.
  5. Check out: Once you've added everything, you can make the payment on the retailer's website.
  6. Avoid duplicates: If you forgot to mark any of the products as purchased you can click on the gift and click on "Mark as purchased".

I have a problem with the gift I ordered, can you help?

We understand that issues with your purchase can be frustrating. While Baby Gift List cannot directly assist with these matters, we can guide you in the right direction.

Baby Gift List functions as a gift registry platform. We connect you with the retailers where the parent has registered their gifts. However, we are not involved in the purchase or fulfillment process.

For any inquiries or concerns regarding the gift you purchased, please contact the retailer directly. Their customer service team is equipped to handle issues related to delivery delays, damaged items, returns, or exchanges.

Why is the price different on the retailer's website?

Retailer prices can occasionally change. This means the price you see on the gift list might not always match the current price on the retailer's website.

The retailer's website will always display the most up-to-date price. Unfortunately, Baby Gift List cannot automatically update prices due to constant fluctuations.

Here's what you can do:

  1. Proceed with the purchase based on the price listed on the retailer's website.
  2. If you'd like to inform the parent(s) about the price difference, you can contact them.

Can I send a cash gift?

Looking to contribute towards their cash fund but unsure how? Here's a quick guide:

  1. Select the cash fund you want to contribute to.
  2. Enter the amount you would like to gift.
  3. Complete the short form so the parents know who to thank for the thoughtful contribution.
  4. Click on the provided button to be directed to their PayPal page. There, you can securely contribute your gift.
  5. Don't forget this crucial step! After completing your payment on PayPal, return to the gift list and mark your gift as 'Sent.' This helps the parents keep track of their contributions.
